For a long time, I believed my body was the problem.

I would find something beautiful, bring it home, and stand in front of the mirror doing the quiet arithmetic so many of us know by heart — too long here, too fitted there, gaping where it should fall clean. I learned to blame myself for clothes that were never made with me in mind.

They weren't. Almost nothing is. Standard sizing is an average, and very few of us are the average. So we adjust ourselves to the garment — when the garment was always meant to adjust to us.

LOMOKE began as a quiet refusal of that arrangement.

I make clothing one person at a time: measured to your proportions, shaped to how you actually move, designed to cover and to carry you rather than to expose or correct you. Where others see a disproportion, I see a starting point. My work is simply to make it proportionate — and to let you feel, perhaps for the first time, that the clothing was expecting you.

I believe this is a kind of care. That to dress someone with dignity is to tell them they are worth the time, the patience, the precision. It is slow work, unhurried by design — and I believe I was made to do it.
